Why we lost, I'm not sad, I'm angry.

So, out of the primaries, we selected the man who "had the best electibility." Well, that didn't seem to work out too well for us. We picked a midstream, moderate democrat, with centrist ideals, and genuinely had most people's best interests at heart. He did nothing to inspire or antagonize anyone.

So we take a moderate, forgettable approach. In two years what will anyone remember about John Kerry? Not much, he did little to energize the base. Last night on the Daily Show, Jon Stewart interviewed the reelected senior New York Senator Charles E. Schumer. He still believes the party represents the interests of the majority of Americans. We know what's best for you even if you don't know it yourself. Its more of this "Silent Majority" crap we all believed in before 11/2/04. Now its clear, the silent majority is not a democratic liberal group, they are uneducated rednecks, unaware of issues. Dems still want to "clarity the message" and make sure all American's understand .... Problem is: They DO understand. They don't want our help.

That message cost the democrats the presidency, 4 seats in the senate, and 3 seats in the house. Point is, that message is not working.

We could sit back and try bipartisan unity, and try to support the emboldened president and blindly hope for the best. And then we can be quiet as they attack the gays because we aren't gay, and then the Arabs because we aren't Arab, etc. (I know some are gay and Arabs, but the allusion holds).

- OR -

We can fight for our country. I'm tired of being afraid, I'm tired of putting my heart, soul, and energy behind a candidate that, while he fought for America when he was young, would not fight a good battle for the presidency. He did not know how to fight, only to pacify. And, friends, we cannot win by pacifying this enemy.

Howard Dean's movement is not dead. I'm not crazy, I am writing a blog, but I'm not crazy. Dean energized the electorate. He changed American politics, he got everyone involved. The entrenched interests on both side hate and fear him. Dean has the courage and capacity to stand up to those interests. No other democrat can make that claim.

Yes, I would love to see a Hillary/Obama '08 ticket. And they would be an intellectually superior fighting force, and they would be a force to be reckoned with .... In Illinois, New York, California, Oregon, District of Columbia, and perhaps Washington State. But folks, ANY democrat would carry those districts ... And lose the race. Americans have demonstrated we are uneducated, ignorant, rednecks. We cannot, and I understand how sad this statement is, we would not be able to win with a black man and a woman ticket. Americans are just too prejudiced.

Now, would Howard Dean fare better? Who knows, probably not. His new approach is to take over from the bottom, up. Start taking city council, state congressional, mayoral, and governorships. Even in Texas, many of these positions are filled with dems currently. We can take over the bottom and change the agenda. We can energize the base, not with bipartisan pacifism, but with aggressive progressive policies. They stole the word "liberal" and gave it negative connotations. We cannot undo that. We now are "progressives" ... And its hard to fight progress.

Read Dean's new letter. Join the democracy for America movement. Don't give up. The ignorant rednecks took over the country before (Andy Jackson, "Indian Hater" Harrison, and in a way Hoover) ... And we took it back. Its time to do it again. So we don't wait for them to attack us, the time to act is NOW while everything is quiet, and they expect us to be crouching in fear and anticipation. Dean is not perfect (ok, not even close), but he is energizing and inspiring, and keeping the movement alive. The democrats just don't get it. Lets change the power structure. Let's take back our country
